Why Mixed Math Practice Matters
Welcome back to ExamGiant.
In this video, I talk about the fifth math game I have added: the Four Basic Operators game. I consider this one of the most important math games I plan to build because it moves beyond practicing only one skill at a time and starts measuring how well students can handle mixed math quickly and accurately.
The Four Basic Operators game is important because students do not always use math in neat, separated categories. In real academic work, students often need to move from addition to multiplication, or from subtraction to division, without extra time to slow down and reset their thinking.
That is why this game matters.
A student may be good at addition by itself. A student may also be good at multiplication by itself. But when those skills are mixed together, the level of difficulty changes. Mixed practice shows whether the student truly knows the material well enough to respond quickly and confidently.
In this game, students face combinations such as:
- addition and multiplication
- addition and division
- subtraction and multiplication
- subtraction and division
To me, that makes this more valuable than practicing only one operation at a time.
My goal is for students to practice until the math becomes immediate. If a student has to pause for too long, that is useful information. It shows that the skill may not yet be fully mastered. ExamGiant is designed to make that visible to students, parents, and teachers.
This is one of the main ideas behind the platform. I do not just want to measure whether an answer is eventually correct. I want to help measure how strong a student really is in a subject area by paying attention to both accuracy and speed.
That is why I believe mixed operator practice is one of the most important kinds of math practice I can offer on ExamGiant.
As I continue building the site, I plan to keep expanding these math tools so students and teachers can get a clearer picture of true mastery.
